Paws for Poems 3
Three Boys with Three Dogs
I've been a bit depressed now for a while
It doesn't make me happy, I confess
To know my life lacks discipline and style
And feeding frenzies please me even less.
I surf the Net to find some cheer and joy,
But reading forum messages, it's hard:
This woman's cat was mangled by three boys
Whom, with their three dogs, broke into her yard
I hear you say - "The dogs, they did the killing,
And not the boys. Don't name them killers yet!"
They didn't kill, that's true. But they were willing
To let them slaughter someone else's pet.
Depression is a dog, and if you let it
It takes your precious sweetness, kills it dead.
I used to be confused, but now I get it
I'm putting barb-wire fences in my head.
Note: I have nothing against dogs - they are adorable creatures and faithful friends. I do have a lot against callous and irresponsible owners who don't prevent them from hurting other creatures.
