Rolling In The Grass

To treasures fading that were once delightful,
To flesh-embracing gifts of stone and metal,
To words that brighten days, and fade by nightfall
To flowers far too quick to lose their petals,
To memories rolling in the sweet young grass,
To endless waiting for her time to pass - -

Oh Absent Brother

I dreamt about us this afternoon. I fell asleep, depressed and beat, and dreamt I was running down a dark street, with scary figures chasing me. A man tried to grab me and somehow I got away; another ran after me with a sword made of glass and threatened to slash me open and leave me in the middle of the street to bleed to death.

And then you came running, light on your feet, wearing white pants and a white shirt, and a mischievous look in your eyes. You took my hand and with a smile assured me that all will be well. And we began to run together down the street, between the scary figures of people shouting and yelling at us, and chasing after us... You were not afraid of them. Lightly you turned and smiled at them, and carried me away to safety. I felt completely protected with you. Finally, we lost the crowd of scary people and were in a beautiful field bathed in sunlight. There you turned to me and smiled again, and the light seemed to be flowing from within you. I felt whole, I felt safe.

I opened my eyes and you were gone, as was the dream. I still have a memory of your radiant smile, but... Brother, where are you? I feel so lost. I AM lost... still, I'm grateful for your visit. Come again to my dreams, do not desert me. I feel so alone. Please, brother, remember your little sister who needs you.

Lord of the Winds

Safely I was placed in his celestial arms,
Swifly was accepted, and brought hence;
Sweetly I surrended to this kind land's charms,
Solemnly I laid down my defence.

The Lord of the Winds carried me to my destination,
But ever am I sad and frightened on my own vacation.

Am I the only one who's noticed that the word "restlessness" sounds a lot like a rattle snake?
